In this Professionalism Spotlight, we spoke to Marvet M. Sweis Drnovsek, Founder and Principal Attorney at MSD Injury Lawyers.
Marvet said she has focused on personal injury law “since day one” of her career, “advocating for individuals harmed by others’ negligence.”
Marvet is also a Commissioner on the Illinois Commission on Discrimination and Hate Crimes and a 2024 recipient of the Chicago Bar Association Vanguard Award.
How do you remain civil in tense situations?
I stay grounded, listen carefully, and focus on resolving issues respectfully. Empathy and professionalism go a long way.
How can attorneys further public confidence in the rule of law?
Attorneys play a vital role in upholding the rule of law. By acting with integrity and civility, we reinforce public trust in the legal system. We’re ambassadors of the legal system—how we act shapes how people view the rule of law.
What is the biggest challenge impacting lawyers today?
Navigating the demands of an always-connected world while preserving personal well-being and professionalism.
What do you do for fun?
I enjoy reading, drawing, and exploring my artistic side. Most of all, I value time spent with my family, which helps me stay balanced and grounded.
