Our efforts and progress in meeting the duties delineated in Illinois Supreme Court Rule 799 are presented in our annual reports. These reports acknowledge our collaborating partners who embrace civility and professionalism and are working with us to transform the profession. Professionalism Survey Reports
Two professionalism surveys of Illinois lawyers were conducted to inform our work. As we address the application and aspirations of professionalism in contemporary legal practice, the surveys help us learn what lawyers are experiencing and how we may better address their needs. In 2007, the Commission sponsored a Survey on Professionalism designed in collaboration with the American Bar Foundation, and the behavior and opinion research firm of Leo J. Shapiro & Associates. A random sample of 1,079 Illinois lawyers participated in 2007. The 2014 Study of Illinois Lawyers was conducted by the National Center for Professional and Research Ethics at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. A random sample of 4,450 Illinois lawyers participated in 2015.
