Standardization is NOT “commodification.” Rather, it’s the happy meeting of process and customer orientation in a product that reliably meets the needs of your clients – one that gives you more time to do real legal work.
As lawyers, we have failed on both ends. We reject process, offering only custom services. We reject customer orientation, building our businesses primarily around our concerns.
While we think that all clients have unique needs, they do not. Clients just want their legal problem addressed – on time, and with no surprises.
So, what intrinsic value can we bring? The answer lies in limited scope services. By embracing standardization, we can meet the needs of our clients and the millions of Americans without access to affordable and attainable access to justice.
