The legal profession is stressful. A recent study of lawyers shows high numbers of mental health and substance use issues. To be an effective advocate, it is essential that lawyers are healthy.
This course will explain why the legal profession needs to address these issues and practical tips for how lawyers can prioritize their well-being. Course participants will:
- Understand the high rate of mental health and substance use issues in the legal profession and why it is a professionalism issue;
- Obtain practical recommendations from the ABA National Task Force on Lawyer Well-Being report to address issues of mental health and substance use; and
- Learn the importance of resiliency and a growth mindset for lawyer well-being.
